Leading with Integrity. Listening with Heart.

Shaping Central Otago’s future through honest leadership, shared values, and a deep commitment to community.

I’m Tamah, and I’m proud to serve as your Mayor.

Central Otago has always been more than just a place to me — it’s home. It’s where I’ve raised my family, built strong relationships, and grown a deep appreciation for the people and values that make this region so special. I stepped into this role with a clear purpose: to lead with honesty, energy, and heart, and to ensure every voice in our community feels heard and respected.

My leadership style is collaborative and grounded. I believe in doing the work, being transparent about the why behind our decisions, and always putting people at the centre of what we do. Whether we’re talking about growth, rates, infrastructure, or the future of our communities, I’m here to lead with integrity — not politics — and to help shape a Central Otago we’re all proud to call home.

Your voice, our future.

You deserve a mayor that listens and delivers.

As a mum of three, former Police Constable, and community-focused leader, I’ve stood up for families, protected what makes our region special, and driven progress that benefits everyone.

Leadership You Can Trust

You’ll see trust built through real action, not empty promises

  • A clear voice for Central Otago in national challenges like Three Waters and RMA reform.

  • Transparent, accountable decision-making.

  • A proven record of action not just promises.

Families First Always

Decisions will protect what you value today while safeguarding it for your children and grandchildren

  • Keep housing affordable so more families can stay and grow here.

  • Invest in safe, vibrant spaces where all ages can connect.

  • Expand training and career opportunities so young people can stay local.

  • Strengthen rural support and emergency networks to protect what matters most.

Growth That Respects Our Place

You’ll see growth that reflects your values - not outside agendas

  • Development that fits our towns, shaped by the people who live here.

  • Infrastructure that meets today’s needs and avoids future strain.

  • Heritage and identity protected for future generations. A stronger local economy built on innovation and environmental care.

Protecting what we love, planning for what we need.

What I stand for.

These are the values that guide every decision I make — as your Mayor, and as your neighbour.

  • The past six years have presented unprecedented challenges for local government. From the global pandemic to sweeping reforms in water, resource management, and our collaboration with central government, integrity has never been more important. As Mayor, I take seriously the responsibility to balance visionary ideas with real-world constraints, especially when it comes to issues like rates, infrastructure, and sustainable development.

Leadership means more than holding a title- it means doing the hard work of weighing up decisions with honesty, empathy, and a long-term view. I bring to the role a proven track record of thoughtful decision-making and clear communication, grounded in my background with the Police and my deep respect for public service.

  • When it comes to representing our community, I’m open and available. Whether it’s an innovative idea, a curly question, or an initiative that needs support, I’m here for it. My happy place is chatting in person, and I’m always up for a conversation that helps us move forward together.

With 12 years in the Police, I’ve learned the importance of courageous conversations, empathy, and clear communication. Trust is built not just through promises, but through follow-through, listening, and showing up for people. I’m proud to sit alongside a diverse and passionate Council, working hard to represent your voice.

  • Central Otago is home for me, my family, and for thousands of others who love this region for its safety, community, and opportunities. That sense of belonging is something we all want to protect.

Prioritising families means thinking big: from ensuring our ageing parents can stay close to loved ones, to creating economic opportunities for our young people, to making sure the next generation has a sustainable future. It means supporting home ownership, inclusive development, and services that help people not just live but thrive here.

We’re growing faster than the national average, and that growth must be guided by a shared vision. Tools like Plan Change 19 and local spatial plans help us maintain the essence of what makes Central Otago special, while allowing our communities to adapt and flourish.

  • What a time to be in Local Government! Yes, it’s been full on but it’s also an exciting moment to shape the future of Central Otago. I genuinely love what I do, and I’m energised every day by the conversations I have with locals, whether over email, in Council chambers, or at the local café (where I’ll likely have a coffee in hand!).

I want people to feel excited about what’s possible here. We have the foundations for bold, thoughtful growth where both developers and families can dream a little bigger. Let’s keep the momentum going, together

  • Honesty is one of my core values. We are lucky enough to live in a counrty where corruption is not the norm, but even New Zealand has been changing in recent years. I lead a council where you can trust that we are acting in the best interests of the public, not ourselves.
